Since 15th March 2020, the Australian Federal and State Government governments have isolated the Australian mainland and Tasmania from international travel movements and imposed enforceable self isolation /quarantine and social distancing and sanitising protocols (including limits of people at indoor gatherings) within Australian borders as part of the government`s public health strategy to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
On 18th March 2020, the leadership of the Australian Judo Union considered this matter and decided to suspend all events on the AJU Calendar until further notice.
The Australian government has indicated that our lives will be disrupted and be subject to limits on public and private gatherings, isolation, social distancing and sanitising protocols to contain the spread of the COVID-19 Virus until a vaccination program is implemented which overcomes the COVID-19 Virus.
At this point in time, the government has advised that a vaccine is not yet available and is unable to advise when a vaccination program will be implemented.
Accordingly, the AJU is not in a position to give its members a time when normal activities will be resumed.
The Australian Judo Union will continue to monitor the COVID-19 Virus pandemic and advise our membership when AJU events will recommence.
The Australian Judo Union urges it members and the public to be patient and respectful of others during this crisis and to abide by the government`s advice and directions so that the COVID-19 Virus can be contained.
